Overview

The I-70 Killer is an unidentified American serial killer responsible for a series of murders in the Midwest during the spring of 1992. The moniker "I-70 Killer" originates from the proximity of the crime scenes to Interstate 70, a major east-west highway traversing the heart of the United States. Over approximately a month, six store clerks were brutally murdered, their cases linked by ballistic evidence and the killer's consistent modus operandi. Despite extensive investigations, the perpetrator remains at large.

• Robin Fuldauer
  • Date: April 8, 1992
  • Location: Payless ShoeSource, Indianapolis, Indiana
  • Details: Robin Fuldauer, 26, was working alone when she was shot in the back of the head. Approximately $100 was taken from the cash register. Her body was discovered in a storage room at the back of the store around 3:00 p.m.
• Patricia Magers and Patricia Smith
  • Date: April 11, 1992
  • Location: La Bride d'Elegance bridal shop, Wichita, Kansas
  • Details: Owner Patricia Magers, 32, and employee Patricia Smith, 23, were working after hours to accommodate a customer. They were both shot in the back of the head. A customer arrived during the incident, encountered the armed assailant, and was instructed to leave, which likely saved his life.

  • Date: April 27, 1992
  • Location: Sylvia's Ceramics, Terre Haute, Indiana
  • Details: Michael McCown, 40, was found shot in the back of the head. Investigators believe the killer may have mistaken him for a woman due to his long hair and the store's feminine name.
• Nancy Kitzmiller
  • Date: May 3, 1992
  • Location: Boot Village, St. Charles, Missouri
  • Details: Nancy Kitzmiller, 24, was working alone when she was shot in the back of the head. A small amount of cash was taken from the register.
• Sarah Blessing
  • Date: May 7, 1992
  • Location: Store of Many Colors, Raytown, Missouri
  • Details: Sarah Blessing, 37, was shot in the back of the head. A neighboring store owner heard a pop sound and saw a man leaving Blessing's shop.

  • Location: Emporium Antiques store, Fort Worth, Texas
  • Details: Mary Ann Glasscock, 51, was found shot to death in her store.
• Amy Vess
  • Date: November 1, 1993
  • Location: Dance apparel store, Arlington, Texas
  • Details: Amy Vess, 22, was shot to death in her store.
• Vicki Webb
  • Date: January 15, 1994
  • Location: Alternatives gift shop, Houston, Texas
  • Details: Vicki Webb, 35, was shot in the back of the head but survived. The bullet did not penetrate her skull due to hitting a vertebra. The assailant attempted a second shot, but the gun misfired, and he fled, presuming Webb to be dead.
• Billy Brossman
  • Date: November 30, 2001
  • Location: 7th and 70 Liquor Store, Terre Haute, Indiana
  • Details: Billy Brossman, 31, was shot in the back of the head during a robbery. Security camera footage captured the suspect's face, but authorities have not been able to identify him.
