Nancy Christine Kitzmiller, a 24-year-old White female, was working alone at Boot Village, a western wear store located at 2079 Zumbehl Road. Nancy was a graduate of Fort Zumwalt High School and Oklahoma State University, known for her love of soccer and horses, and was preparing to start a new career with the Defense Mapping Agency.
Around 2:30 p.m., customers entered the shop and discovered her lifeless body in a rear office. Investigators determined that she had been shot execution-style in the back of the head.
The investigation revealed that robbery was likely a secondary motive, as only a small amount of cash was missing from the register, and Nancy’s purse was left untouched. There were no signs of a struggle or sexual assault, suggesting the attack was sudden and calculated. Ballistic evidence recovered from the scene conclusively linked her death to a series of homicides committed across the Midwest during the spring of 1992, attributed to an unidentified serial offender known as the 'I-70 Killer.'
