In the early hours of September 10, 2014, the life of 22-year-old Jacquelyn N. Adams was tragically cut short in a violent encounter in St. Charles, Missouri. A female resident of Creve Coeur, her death was the grim conclusion of a domestic dispute that spiraled into a murder-suicide. The incident unfolded at a home on Red Cedar Court, where police were dispatched around 2:50 a.m. following a report of a suicide threat.

Both Adams and 32-year-old Justin L. Frister of St. Charles were found suffering from gunshot wounds. Investigators determined that Frister shot Adams during a heated argument before turning the gun on himself. Frister was pronounced dead at the residence. Adams, gravely wounded, was rushed to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The investigation that followed confirmed the intimate relationship between Adams and Frister, who was identified as her estranged boyfriend.
