George Jefferson Hassell: A Detailed Account of His Crimes

Background

George Jefferson Hassell was born on July 5, 1888, in Smithville, Texas. He was the youngest of seven children. His life was marked by a series of tragic events, including the death of his brother Thomas, who was kicked in the head by a mule. Hassell later married his brother's widow, Susan Ferguson of Oklahoma.

First Series of Murders (1917)

In 1917, Hassell committed his first known series of murders in Whittier, California. He killed his wife and three stepchildren. The victims were:
