David Alan Gore: A Detailed Account of His Crimes
Background
David Alan Gore (August 21, 1953 – April 12, 2012) was an American serial killer who, along with his cousin Fred Waterfield, committed a series of brutal murders in Vero Beach and Indian River County, Florida, between 1981 and 1983. The duo became infamously known as the "Killing Cousins." Gore, who had previously served as an auxiliary sheriff's deputy, exploited his position to facilitate some of his heinous acts. He was executed by lethal injection in 2012 after spending 28 years on Florida's death row. Waterfield is currently serving two consecutive life sentences.
Early Criminal Activity
In 1976, prior to their murder spree, Gore and Waterfield were accused by 20-year-old Angela Hommell Austin of raping her at gunpoint. Both cousins claimed the encounter was consensual, and no charges were filed. This incident foreshadowed their escalating pattern of violence.
