- **Hanna Morcos**: On September 24, 2010, Ewell broke into the home of 80-year-old Hanna Morcos in Hawthorne. He bound Morcos' hands behind his back using a window cord and beat him with his fists and a blunt object. The beating ultimately caused Morcos to suffer a fatal heart attack.
- **Denise Roberts**: On October 13, 2010, Ewell broke into the home of 53-year-old Denise Roberts, who lived two homes down from him. He bound Roberts' hands behind her back, gagged, and strangled her to death before robbing the place.
- **Leamon Caroll Turnage and Robyn Turnage**: On October 21, 2010, Ewell, posing as a utility man, entered the home of Leamon Caroll Turnage (69) and his wife Robyn Turnage (57). He bound the couple one by one, strangled them to death, and robbed the house, taking jewelry.
