The Denver Prostitute Killer was an unidentified serial killer responsible for the murders of at least 17 women and girls in Denver, Colorado, and its suburbs between 1975 and 1995. The victims were primarily young women, many of whom were involved in prostitution or were hitchhikers. They were often beaten, sexually assaulted, and strangled, with their bodies dumped along Interstate 70, sometimes posed in humiliating positions.

• Kimberly Jean Grabin: 17-year-old prostitute found raped and strangled on August 18, 1979, near Interstate 70.
• Stephanie Ann Bauman: 15-year-old who went missing in October 1980 after hitchhiking home. Her naked body was discovered in a ravine on the outskirts of Denver on October 28, 1980. She had been beaten and tortured, leading to unconsciousness before being left to die from hypothermia.
• Donna Wayne: 18-year-old who disappeared on July 14, 1986, after visiting a bar with friends. Her body was found a month later near Aurora, Colorado.
• Karolyn Walker: 18-year-old who vanished on July 4, 1987, after meeting her fiancé. She was later found raped and strangled. Despite evidence suggesting a struggle, no incriminating evidence or witnesses were found.

Investigation and Suspects

The investigation faced significant challenges due to the varying stages of decomposition of the victims' bodies, which hindered the collection of forensic evidence. Witnesses described the suspect as a middle-aged white male, but no definitive leads were established. In 2005, DNA profiling led to the arrest of Billy Edwin Reid for the 1989 murders of Lannell Williams and Lisa Kelly. Reid was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. Authorities suspect Reid in several other murders, including those attributed to the Denver Prostitute Killer, but no conclusive evidence has been found linking him to these additional crimes.
