Elroy Chester was an American serial killer who terrorized the city of Port Arthur, Texas, during the late 1990s. Born on June 14, 1969, Chester had a long history of criminal activity before escalating to a series of violent murders. His reign of terror came to an end when he was apprehended and later executed for his crimes.

Crimes and Murders

Between 1997 and 1998, Chester committed multiple murders, sexual assaults, and armed robberies. He primarily targeted women, often breaking into their homes to assault and kill them. Below is a list of his known victims:

• Etta Mae Stallings (April 1997) – Chester murdered 87-year-old Etta Mae Stallings in her Port Arthur home. He broke in, stole valuables, and strangled her to death.
• Sally Mae Gray (August 1997) – 78-year-old Sally Mae Gray was raped and murdered in a similar home invasion attack. Chester broke into her house, assaulted her, and then killed her.
• Cheryl DeLeon (September 20, 1997) – Chester raped and murdered 40-year-old Cheryl DeLeon after breaking into her residence in Port Arthur.
• Ernest Ray Summers Jr. (November 2, 1997) – Summers, a 35-year-old man, was fatally shot by Chester while he was attempting to protect his family from an intruder.
• John Henry Williams (February 1998) – Williams, 50, was another victim who died at the hands of Chester in a violent attack.
• Willie Ryman III (February 6, 1998) – Ryman, a 38-year-old firefighter, was shot and killed when he tried to protect his relatives from Chester’s violent rampage.
