Early Life and Initial Offense
Todd Christopher Kohlhepp was born on March 7, 1971, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His early years were marked by familial instability; his parents divorced when he was two, and he was subsequently raised by his mother and stepfather. Exhibiting troubling behavior from a young age, Kohlhepp was known for aggression towards other children and cruelty to animals. At 15, he committed his first known violent crime:
- **November 25, 1986**: Kidnapped and sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl in Tempe, Arizona. He was convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The Superbike Motorsports Murders
After his release in 2001, Kohlhepp relocated to South Carolina and established a career in real estate. However, his violent tendencies resurfaced:
- **November 6, 2003**: Committed a quadruple homicide at Superbike Motorsports, a motorcycle shop in Chesnee, South Carolina. The victims were:
- **Scott Ponder**, 30, owner
- **Brian Lucas**, 29, service manager
- **Chris Sherbert**, 26, mechanic
- **Beverly Guy**, 52, bookkeeper and Ponder's mother
All four were fatally shot. Kohlhepp later confessed that he was a disgruntled customer seeking revenge.
Kidnapping and Additional Murders
Kohlhepp's criminal activities escalated further in 2015 and 2016:
