Willie Arnold "Billy" Ryman III, a 38-year-old male, was a dedicated firefighter with 20 years of service in the Port Arthur Fire Department. On the night of February 6, 1998, Ryman went to his sister's home in Pear Ridge, Texas, to check on his nieces. Upon arriving, he encountered Elroy Chester, a serial killer who was in the process of violently assaulting Ryman's nieces. Ryman's courageous intervention led to a confrontation with Chester, during which Ryman was tragically shot to death.
