Background
Robert Wirth, born in 1960, is a convicted American serial killer responsible for a series of brutal robberies and murders in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Between 1987 and 1988, he targeted elderly residents in their own homes, assaulting, robbing, and killing them. His modus operandi involved breaking into homes, committing burglary, and inflicting violent injuries—particularly to the neck—using stabbing, beatings, and asphyxiation .Investigation & Conviction
Initially, Milwaukee police had no leads. The breakthrough came when a distinctive toy donkey, found at one crime scene and identified by a victim’s family, linked the murders together. Wirth was arrested in mid‑1988 after being caught robbing a taxi driver—during that arrest police discovered a gun stolen from a house matching one of the murder scenes. DNA tests later tied Wirth to the blood on the toy donkey . In 1991, Wirth was convicted and sentenced to four consecutive life terms plus 20 years .Victims
