quickly determined that the shooting was gang-related and that Austin's father, Austin Ramos Sr., was the likely intended target. The investigation led police to identify four suspects, all alleged to be members of the La Raza street gang. A manhunt ensued for Isaac William Torres, Eric Salazar-Mota, Sergio Ortiz-Raygoza, and Hugo Martinez. The search for these individuals involved local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
The first breakthrough came when Isaac William Torres was taken into custody in McHenry County, Illinois. Not long after, a tip led authorities to Storm Lake, Iowa, where they located and arrested Eric Salazar-Mota and Sergio Ortiz-Raygoza.
