Early Life and Background

Matthew Steven Johnson was born on May 24, 1963, in Hartford, Connecticut, as one of ten siblings, including his fraternal twin. Growing up in Hartford's Blue Hills and Asylum Hill neighborhoods, Johnson faced numerous challenges. At the age of 12, he lost sight in one eye due to a pellet gun incident.
