Manuel Moore and the Zebra Murders
Overview
Manuel Moore was one of the convicted perpetrators of the infamous "Zebra Murders," a series of racially motivated attacks that occurred in San Francisco, California, between 1973 and 1974. Alongside accomplices Larry Green, Jessie Lee Cooks, and J.C.X. Simon, Moore was part of a group known as the "Death Angels." These crimes targeted white individuals and were marked by their brutality and randomness.
Crimes and Victims

- Marietta DiGirolamo - December 13, 1973: Killed in a random attack.
- Ilario Bertuccio - December 20, 1973: Murdered.
- Neal Moynihan - December 22, 1973: Shot and killed.
- Mildred Hosler - December 22, 1973: Another victim of the spree.
- Tana Smith - January 29, 1974: Murdered.
- Vincent Wollin - January 29, 1974: Killed in the same attack as Tana Smith.
- John Bambic - January 29, 1974: Another victim of the same day.
- Jane Holly - January 29, 1974: Murdered in the spree.
- Thomas Rainwater - April 1, 1974: Fatally attacked.
- Nelson T. Shields IV - April 16, 1974: The final confirmed victim.
Apprehension and Conviction
The group was apprehended in 1974 after a warehouse worker provided critical information to the police in exchange for a reward. Manuel Moore and his accomplices were convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. They were sentenced to life imprisonment.
