Overview

On Saturday, September 11, 2010, 47-year-old Stanley Neace went on a deadly rampage in a roadside mobile home park in the Mount Carmel community near Jackson, Breathitt County, Kentucky. Armed with a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun, he killed five people and then turned the gun on himself at approximately 11:30 a.m.

Neighbors and relatives later described months of escalating hostility and domestic strife. On the morning of the killings, a dispute reportedly began over how Neace’s wife cooked his eggs; he was also facing eviction due to his behavior, according to local reporting. Authorities did not immediately confirm a single definitive motive.
