It was a tragic end to a routine day for Keith Dumas, a 47-year-old Black man from Gary, Indiana. On the morning of April 24, 2015, Dumas was out walking his dog, C.J., in the 400 block of Adams Street when gunfire suddenly erupted. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. His dog, C.J., was also shot in the leg during the attack.
