In the late hours of November 14, 2018, the life of 22-year-old Brennan J. Ellis, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in Indianapolis, Indiana. Just before midnight, officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the Stone Lake Apartments in the 4100 block of El Lago Boulevard on the city's south side after receiving a report of a person shot.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Brennan Ellis in the parking lot of the apartment
complex, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel transported him to Eskenazi Hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. Investigators at the scene interviewed the individual who found him, but the specific circumstances leading to the shooting remained unclear. Authorities could not immediately determine if the shooting was the result of an argument or whether it had taken place in a vehicle or on foot.
In the wake of the shooting, IMPD officials appealed to the public for assistance, urging anyone who might have seen or heard anything unusual before midnight to come forward with information. Despite these pleas for community help, no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with Brennan Ellis's death.
