On the evening of April 15, 2026, a tragedy unfolded on the northeast side of Indianapolis that ended the life of 22-year-old Robert Golliday. Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 5900 block of Radnor Road around 7:30 p.m. following a report of a person shot. Upon their arrival, they discovered a young man with gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and as of now, no arrests have been made. The police have not released any information about a potential suspect or a motive for the killing. In the days following the shooting, Robert's mother, Dana Golliday, shared her heartbreak and a sense of profound betrayal. She revealed that her son was a loving person and the devoted father of two young children, a three-year-old and a one-year-old.
In a tearful interview, Dana Golliday stated her belief that her son was killed by a close friend whom he had been sheltering and supporting. She recounted how the friend came to their door that evening and Robert went outside to speak with him, only to be fatally shot. The family remains devastated by the loss and the circumstances surrounding it, remembering Robert as a positive and happy individual with a big smile. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward to assist in the investigation.
