On a Friday evening in Indianapolis, what began as a routine trip to the grocery store ended in a shocking and senseless act of violence that claimed the life of 43-year-old Carlos Castro. The male victim was at a Kroger on the south side of the city on October 20, 2017, when he was accosted by a stranger. The assailant, later identified as Jason Neal Cooper, approached Castro and demanded his cellphone. When Castro refused to hand it over, a violent struggle ensued in the dairy aisle.
