In the late hours of a Thursday evening in Indianapolis, the grim reality of urban violence unfolded in a quiet alley. On September 8, 2016, a man, later identified as 30-year-old Mohamed DuKuly, was discovered lying unconscious in the 1400 block of East New York Street. Initially, it was reported that he had suffered from head injuries. First responders arrived at the scene just before 10 p.m. and transported DuKuly to a local hospital in critical condition.
