On August 2, 2023, Alton Ray Kerney, a 19-year-old, was found shot dead on the west side of Indianapolis. The incident occurred near the intersection of West 10th Street and North Rochester Avenue, an area with homes, businesses, and railroad tracks between Holt Road and North Tibbs Avenue.
