Joseph Woodson, a 47-year-old resident of Portsmouth, Virginia, was tragically shot and killed on May 13, 2021, in Norfolk, Virginia. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 12:30 a.m., in the 1600 block of East Brambleton Avenue, near the Norfolk State University campus. When police arrived at the scene, they found Woodson suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead before he could be transported to a hospital.
