Alvis G. Carrington, a 43-year-old male, was a respected animal control officer in Newark, New Jersey. In the late hours of a Tuesday night, while on duty, he made a brief stop at his home on Wainwright Street to bring his wife a soda. This small act of kindness would tragically be his last. As he stood on the sidewalk, a figure emerged, and Carrington was fatally shot. His wife and brother, Larry, were witnesses to the horrific event, and he died in his brother's arms.
