In the early hours of a Sunday morning, the life of Joshua L. Moore, a 36-year-old Black male from Elizabeth, New Jersey, was cut short by gunfire on the streets of Newark. On August 14, 2016, at approximately 12:10 a.m., reports of shots fired near the intersection of E. Peddie Street and Frelinghuysen Avenue prompted a police response. When they arrived, they found Moore, who was pronounced dead at the scene just over twenty minutes later.
