In the late evening hours of a Monday in Newark, New Jersey, the life of 34-year-old Jeread Hollaway, a male resident of the city, was brought to a violent and tragic end. On September 6, 2021, at approximately 11:10 p.m., the sounds of screams and multiple gunshots pierced the night in a residential neighborhood in the upper West Ward. Worried residents in the vicinity of 118 Brookdale Avenue promptly dialed 911 to report the alarming disturbance.
Upon their arrival at the scene, Newark police officers discovered Jeread Hollaway suffering from bullet wounds. According to the preliminary investigation, an armed assailant had pointed a weapon at Hollaway and fired, inflicting the fatal injuries. Despite the immediate response from law enforcement, medical professionals pronounced Hollaway dead at the scene a short time later.
