On a summer night in Hartford, Connecticut, the life of 29-year-old Troy Reid, a Black / African American male, was cut short by gunfire. On August 9, 2021, at approximately 11:20 p.m., Hartford police responded to a report of a shooting at a residence on Sterling Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered Reid inside a vehicle parked behind the building, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene shortly after 11:30 p.m.
