In the early evening of May 28, 2023, tragedy struck in a West Ward neighborhood of Newark, New Jersey. Siddiq Amin Hooper, a 44-year-old Black male, was in the area of Plymouth Street and South Munn Avenue when gunfire erupted around 6:30 p.m. When police arrived at the scene, they found Hooper suffering from gunshot wounds.
