On May 28, 2023, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Newark police responded to reports of a shooting near Plymouth Street and South Munn Avenue in the city's West Ward. Upon arrival, officers discovered 44-year-old Newark resident, Siddiq Amin Hooper, suffering from gunshot wounds.
