A late summer afternoon in Newark turned tragic for a young man from the neighboring city of Elizabeth. On Saturday, September 12, 2015, 27-year-old Miguel Lopez, Jr. was in the 100 block of Irving Street when gunfire erupted shortly before 3:30 p.m. The sudden violence shattered the day and set in motion a homicide investigation that would leave a family searching for answers.
