On a late summer evening in Newark, New Jersey, tragedy struck an 18-year-old male named Tyquil Whitehead. On Friday, September 5, 2014, at approximately 10:15 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting in the 100 block of Riverside Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered Whitehead lying in the street, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to University Hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at 10:51 p.m.
