On December 25, 2023, at approximately 1:28 p.m., Newark police responded to reports of a shooting on the 300 block of Clinton Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 34-year-old Ridge Scott Jr. inside a burning vehicle that had crashed amid an exchange of gunfire. Eyewitnesses reported that a heavy-set male exited another vehicle and fired multiple shots at Scott's car, resulting in Scott sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.
