In the late afternoon of a September day in Newark, New Jersey, a life was abruptly ended by gunfire. On September 29, 2018, Anthony Davis, a 41-year-old Black/African American man, was in the 100 block of South 7th Street when he was fatally shot. The sounds of violence in an urban landscape gave way to the arrival of emergency services, but for Davis, it was too late.
