In the early evening of December 23, 2023, a tragic event unfolded on the border of Newark and East Orange, New Jersey, forever altering the lives of one family. Kareem Abdul Jarmon Guilford Jr., a 22-year-old male from East Orange, was fatally shot in the Vailsburg section of Newark. The incident occurred at approximately 6:13 p.m. on the 100 block of Mountainview Avenue, a location that would become the scene of a homicide investigation.
