On a Thursday evening, February 19, 2015, the life of 23-year-old Ramel McGrady, a Black male from East Orange, New Jersey, was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting in Newark. Around 6 p.m., Newark Police were dispatched to the vicinity of 89 Oration Street following reports of gunfire. Upon their arrival, they discovered McGrady suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to University Hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead at 6:38 p.m.
