In the quiet early morning hours of September 8, 2020, the life of Ridge Ross Williams, a 28-year-old male, was brought to a violent and tragic end. Gunshots echoed through his neighborhood on the 300 block of Stockdale Street in Flint, Michigan, and when the sound faded, Williams was discovered shot to death just outside of his residence. The time was approximately 12:10 a.m.
This senseless act of violence has been classified as a homicide, leaving a community in shock and a family devastated by their loss.
Born in Flint on November 20, 1991, Ridge was a graduate of Beecher High School. As a young man, he was actively involved in his community, participating in the 'Boys to Men' program at his church and spending time at the Boys & Girls Club. It was there that he developed a passion for chess, a game he became skilled enough at to compete in tournaments. Those who knew him remember a man who enjoyed fashion and, most of all, cherished the time he spent with his friends and beloved family, particularly his mother and grandmother.
In the years that have passed since his untimely death, the search for answers and justice has been persistent. The Flint Safe Neighborhood Initiative held a community event to bring attention to his unsolved case, a gathering his mother, Angela Ross, attended, still grappling with the immense pain of her son's murder. Despite the ongoing investigation by law enforcement and the active involvement of community groups like Crime Stoppers of Flint & Genesee County, no arrests have been made. The case remains open, a painful and unresolved chapter for his loved ones and the city of Flint. The identity of any suspect or suspects remains unknown to the public, and the motive for the killing is still unclear.
