In the winter of 2016, a violent encounter in a Washington, D.C. apartment abruptly ended the life of Terry Crutchfield, a 45-year-old male known to his friends as 'Tubbs'. On the morning of December 6th, inside a residence in the 1500 block of Olive Street NE, near the Deanwood Metro station, Crutchfield was shot and killed. The incident occurred shortly before 11:30 a.m.
when two men with handguns entered the apartment demanding drugs.
While some individuals in the apartment managed to escape by jumping out of a window, Crutchfield was not as fortunate. He was discovered by police on the second floor, in the kitchen at the back of the home, having been shot in the back and abdomen. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The tragic event was characterized by authorities as a drug-related robbery.
In the wake of the shooting, an investigation led to the arrest of a suspect. Clinton Wolmack was identified by witnesses as the shooter and his location was corroborated by video surveillance. He was subsequently arrested and charged with first-degree murder while armed. Court documents revealed that Wolmack and the other assailant were known to each other, having previously served time in jail together. Terry Maurice Crutchfield was a father and the devoted son of Marie Crutchfield and Roy R. Martin. He also left behind two brothers and a loving companion.
