In the late evening hours of Sunday, November 3, 2024, the sounds of gunshots shattered the night in the 2100 block of Savannah Terrace in Southeast Washington, D.C.. When officers from the Seventh District arrived at the scene around 9:58 p.m., they discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was conscious and breathing and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
As police canvassed the area, their investigation led them to a second victim nearby.
In the 3300 block of 22nd Street Southeast, they found 25-year-old Lorenzo Campbell III, who was unconscious and not breathing. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but tragically, he was pronounced dead. Initially, it was thought he had been stabbed, but detectives later determined he had been shot in the same incident on Savannah Terrace.
The Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating the homicide of Lorenzo Campbell III, a resident of Fort Washington, Maryland. As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities have not released any information about a potential suspect or suspects. Homicide detectives are continuing to gather evidence and interview potential witnesses. The police department is urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this violent crime.
