In the early morning hours of Sunday, October 21, 2018, the life of Marc Anthony Bolden, a 28-year-old Black/African American man, was tragically cut short in Washington, D.C. He was discovered inside his vehicle in the unit block of New York Avenue NW, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The discovery was made by police who were responding to reports of gunshots in the area at approximately 7:15 a.m.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, and Bolden was transported to a local hospital where, despite all lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead.
Bolden's death was one of three homicides that occurred in the city that weekend, contributing to a notable increase in Washington, D.C.'s homicide rate for the year. He was a resident of Northwest D.C. and, according to those who knew him, a devoted father to his three children, Makiah, Treshaun, and Marc. He was also a beloved son and companion. In the wake of his death, family and friends created a street memorial to honor his memory.
The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is actively investigating the fatal shooting. In an effort to generate leads, the department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for his death. To date, no arrests have been made, and police have not released any descriptions of potential suspects. The investigation remains ongoing as his family and community continue to seek answers and justice.
