In the early hours of a Wednesday in July 2021, the sound of gunshots shattered the pre-dawn stillness in the 1400 block of V Street, Northwest in Washington, D.C. Responding to the reports, officers from the Third District arrived at a grim scene. They discovered a man, later identified as 28-year-old Kewionee Wilson of Oxon Hill, Maryland, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services were quickly on the scene and transported Wilson to a local hospital with
life-threatening injuries. For five days, he fought for his life, but tragically, on Monday, July 26, 2021, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. His death was officially ruled a homicide by the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch, which has taken the lead in the ongoing investigation into the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting.
In the wake of his death, the police have reached out to the public for assistance in gathering information about the incident. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this act of violence.
