On a Friday evening in Washington, D.C., a burst of violence shattered the night, leaving a young man dead and a community searching for answers. On June 4, 2021, 31-year-old Clifton Smith, a resident of Southeast, D.C., was in the Shaw neighborhood when gunfire erupted. The incident occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. in the 1900 block of 7th Street, Northwest, a busy area near the Howard Theatre.
