On Christmas Eve of 2021, a young Black / African American man named Parris Thurman, aged 24, was fatally shot in Washington, D.C. The incident occurred at approximately 5:14 p.m. in the 200 block of 56th Street, Northeast. Officers from the Sixth District of the Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of the sound of gunshots in the area.
