On Christmas Eve of 2021, a young Black / African American man named Parris Thurman, aged 24, was fatally shot in Washington, D.C. The incident occurred at approximately 5:14 p.m. in the 200 block of 56th Street, Northeast. Officers from the Sixth District of the Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of the sound of gunshots in the area.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Parris Thurman suffering from gunshot wounds.
DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel were dispatched to the scene and determined that he showed no signs of life. His body was then transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is leading the investigation into his death, which has been classified as a homicide.
To date, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or announced any arrests in connection with the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing, and the Metropolitan Police Department has offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for his death. They continue to appeal to the public for any information regarding the case.
