On March 4, 2005, Esaias Alazar, a 50-year-old taxi cab driver originally from Africa, was shot and killed in Washington, D.C. The incident took place at approximately 9:27 pm in front of 4975 South Dakota Avenue, NE. On the night of his death, Alazar had managed to get his taxi running and went to a local convenience store to buy a D.C. Lottery instant scratch game.
