In the late hours of a Wednesday evening in Washington, D.C., the sounds of gunshots shattered the night, leading to the tragic death of Lamont Johnson, a 25-year-old man from Northeast, DC. On August 14, 2019, at approximately 10:14 pm, police responded to reports of gunfire in the 3400 block of 22nd Street, Southeast. Upon their arrival, they discovered an unresponsive adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene and quickly
transported Johnson to a nearby hospital. Despite all life-saving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch has since opened an investigation into the fatal shooting.
