In the Greenway neighborhood of Southeast Washington, D.C., a Saturday afternoon was shattered by gunfire on April 8, 2023. The violence erupted around 12:39 p.m. on the 3400 block of A Street SE, where police responded to a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man, later identified as 65-year-old Wendell Davis, unconscious and not breathing.
Emergency medical services were called to the scene, but despite their efforts, Wendell Davis, a male resident of Washington,
D.C., was pronounced dead approximately three hours after the shooting. The cause of his death was determined to be a gunshot wound. The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is leading the investigation into the incident.
As of now, the case remains an open and ongoing investigation. Law enforcement officials have not released any information regarding a potential motive for the shooting.
