In the early spring of 2020, the life of 41-year-old Alkhenala Al-Fatah, a Black male from Southeast Washington, D.C., was tragically cut short. On the evening of Monday, March 9th, at approximately 9:53 p.m., Al-Fatah was shot multiple times in the 1200 block of Barnaby Terrace, Southeast. The following morning, on March 10th, at around 9:30 a.m., officers from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call about an unconscious person and discovered Al-Fatah at the scene.
Emergency medical services arrived, but Al-Fatah showed no signs of life and was pronounced dead. His body was subsequently taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is handling the investigation into his death, which has been ruled a homicide.
In the months following the incident, authorities sought help from the public to identify a suspect. Surveillance footage capturing an individual of interest was released in July 2020. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Al-Fatah's death.
Despite the release of the video and the offered reward, the case remains unsolved. As of late 2025, there have been no arrests announced in connection with the murder of Alkhenala Al-Fatah, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The investigation is ongoing.
