In the streets of Southeast Washington, D.C., a 14-year-old male named Antoine Junior Manning, affectionately known as 'Twon,' became a tragic victim of gun violence. On Halloween night, his life was cut short in a fatal shooting that occurred in the 2600 block of Birney Place SE. This was not the first time danger had found the young ninth-grader on that very block.
Just weeks prior, on October 9th, Antoine had survived another shooting incident in the same location.
The aspiring football player, who dreamed of one day playing in the NFL, was wounded but not fatally. His friends and family described him as a charismatic young man who enjoyed dancing and the latest social media trends. He was a student at Digital Pioneers Academy and played football for the Watkins Hornets Youth Association.
Following the non-fatal October shooting, authorities arrested a 15-year-old and charged him as a juvenile with assault with a dangerous weapon. Police were seeking additional individuals believed to be involved in that earlier incident. However, the investigation into Antoine's murder on Halloween remains ongoing, with no arrests made in the homicide case.
