In the early morning hours of Friday, July 18, 2025, a dispute between roommates in a Northeast Washington, D.C. apartment escalated into a fatal encounter. Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Fort Drive, Northeast, at approximately 12:15 a.m. following a report of a disturbance. Upon entering the apartment, they discovered an adult male suffering from an unspecified injury.
Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene, but despite their
life-saving efforts, the man was pronounced dead. The deceased was later identified as 41-year-old Allen Sharpshire, a resident of Northeast, D.C. An autopsy performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner subsequently determined that Sharpshire's cause of death was a gunshot wound, and his death was officially ruled a homicide.
Initially, details about potential suspects were not released to the public as the investigation commenced. The Metropolitan Police Department offered a reward of up to $25,000 for any information that would lead to an arrest and conviction in the case. As the investigation progressed, homicide detectives identified a suspect in the fatal shooting. An arrest warrant was issued for 39-year-old Solaiman Richardson, charging him with Second Degree Murder While Armed. Authorities have described the case as being domestic in nature.
