In the quiet evening hours of a Tuesday in March 2018, the life of 53-year-old John Gaines was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire. Residing in the Belmont Crossing apartment complex in Southeast Washington, D.C., Gaines became the victim of a fatal shooting that unfolded in the 4300 block of Seventh Street SE.
