In the summer of 2023, a shooting in Southwest Washington, D.C. left three people wounded. Among them was 31-year-old Ryan Morgan, a resident of the area. The incident occurred on June 14th in the 100 block of Atlantic Street SW. Emergency services responded to the scene and transported Morgan and another adult male to a local hospital, both in critical condition.
A third victim, a 17-year-old male, was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
For months, Morgan fought for his life. However, he ultimately succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the shooting. On Sunday, September 10, 2023, Ryan Morgan was pronounced dead. His passing came nearly three months after the violent encounter that also wounded two others. He was born on October 30, 1991. Beyond the tragic circumstances of his death, Morgan was known as a videographer, entrepreneur, and a passionate advocate for civil rights, having collaborated with the ACLU of D.C. on issues of police misconduct.
As of the reports of his death, the Metropolitan Police Department had not made any arrests in connection with the shooting. The investigation into the triple shooting that led to Morgan's death remains ongoing. Authorities have offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for his homicide. No suspects have been publicly identified.
