In the late afternoon of a Sunday in Washington, D.C., tragedy struck in the 5100 block of Sheriff Road, Northeast. On February 26, 2023, at approximately 3:42 p.m., the sounds of gunfire shattered the day, leading to the untimely death of 32-year-old Wayne Sheppard, a Black male from Seat Pleasant, Maryland. When officers from the Sixth District of the Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered Mr.
Sheppard and another man, 34-year-old Harold Bogan of Temple Hills, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the location, but sadly, their efforts were in vain. Both Wayne Sheppard and Harold Bogan were pronounced dead at the scene, their lives abruptly ended in a violent encounter. The incident marked another somber moment for the city, as two more lives were lost to gun violence.
