In the early morning hours of July 30, 2016, a violent encounter on Interstate 295 in Southeast Washington, D.C., claimed the life of 25-year-old Judonne Stephens. At approximately 2:28 a.m., authorities responded to reports of gunfire and discovered Stephens and another man inside a vehicle near the Firth Sterling Avenue overpass, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services transported both men to a local hospital for treatment.
